- The optional Accessibility service is off by default and doesn't collect, store or share any data.
Settings stay on your phone
ZFOLD8 Manager has no accounts and no sign-in. Your cover and inner screen sizes, presets, refresh rate and brightness choices, widget choices and other settings are saved on your phone.
If you choose to share presets or back up your settings to a file, the app creates that text or file for you, and you decide where it goes. We don't receive it.
Ads and the advertising ID
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect device and ad identifiers, such as your device's advertising ID, and approximate location, as described in Google's policies. Ads are shown inside the app only.
The app uses Google's consent tools. Where Google requires a consent choice, the app shows an Ad privacy choices option where you can review your choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings.
Usage analytics
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count installs and app opens and how often display sizes are applied. It collects app-usage events, basic device and diagnostic information, and an app instance ID. It doesn't collect your name, email or what you type, and the data isn't sold. Google processes it under its own privacy policy.
On first launch, the app sends a one-time anonymous 'new install' notice through ntfy.sh, a third-party notification service, so we can see new installs. It contains only the app version. No device ID, name, account or other personal data is sent, though ntfy.sh, like any web service, sees the connecting IP address.
Remove Ads purchase
Remove Ads is an optional one-time in-app purchase that turns ads off. Payment is processed by Google Play under Google's terms and privacy policy. We don't receive your payment card details. Google Play tells the app whether the purchase was made, so ads stay off.
For billing questions or refunds, see Google Play's help pages.
Accessibility service (Flex touchpad and keyboard)
Flex mode's touchpad and keyboard use an optional Accessibility service. It is off by default, and you turn it on yourself in Android's Accessibility settings.
Android only lets an app tap, scroll or open the keyboard for you through the Accessibility permission. ZFOLD8 Manager uses it to perform the taps and scrolls you make on the touchpad. It also finds the text box in the app on top so your keyboard can open, notices when a text box is selected so the Flex panel can switch to its Keyboard tab, and keeps the keyboard hidden while the panel is on Media or Touchpad.
It doesn't collect, store or share any data. It doesn't record your screen content or what you type, and nothing leaves your device.
To turn it off, switch off Touchpad in the app, or go to Settings › Accessibility › Installed apps › ZFOLD8 Manager.
Root, Shizuku and other permissions
Changing the display size (DPI), refresh rate and brightness are system-level settings. You choose one setup method: root (for example through KernelSU) or Shizuku. The app uses that access only to apply the settings you choose, such as screen size, refresh rate and brightness, and the Flex mode controls you use.
The app also asks for:
- Notifications, so the switching status can show.
- Start at boot, so your sizes are applied again after a restart.
- Display over other apps, only when Flex mode is turned on, for the Flex panel.
- Unrestricted battery use (optional), so switching keeps running in the background.
- Internet, which Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, Google Play billing and the one-time ntfy.sh install notice need.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your information. The only Google services the app uses are Google AdMob (its only ad network), Firebase Analytics and Google Play billing. The app also sends the one-time install notice through ntfy.sh described above. Apart from the ad, analytics and purchase handling by Google and the ntfy.sh install notice described above, the app doesn't send your settings or personal information to us or anyone else.
